ERA® and Your Skin

Your skin is waterproof
The skin is responsible for waterproofing your body. The sebaceous glands produce and secrete sebum; an oil which literally waterproofs us - which means we don't absorb water. Imagine what would happen each time we showered if we weren't!

ERA®, being 60% water, provides coverage without blocking the skin's own natural processes. Applied to a clean, dry skin, it simply lays over the top of the skin, without being absorbed but you still get the benefits of the anti-oxidants and botanicals, on a topical level, which improve, soothe and strengthen the skin.

Ingredients - they're NOT all BAD!

It is important to be aware of ingredients, especially for those with sensitivities, but most important is how these ingredients are combined in make-up preparations.  Quite often we believe that one ingredient in a product causes that product to be irritative. Talc is a good example of this, as it is often considered comedogenic (or pore-blocking). Research has shown that when talc is in a 'wet' or liquid formulation i.e. water, it does not cause irritation or block pores.  It is a common ingredient in liquid and cream foundations as it helps make-up set, and avoids the need for setting with powder after application. When used in a dry powder form, or in an oil-based preparation, it can indeed be comedogenic, as when applied dry to the skin it absorbs into pores, and combined with an oil, the oil acts as a carrier into the pores. A water-based liquid, oil-free formulation avoids this. This is just one example of how important the overall composition of a make-up preparation is, as to whether it may cause sensitivities.

Oxidation affects your make-up
ERA® is in a sterile canister with no exposure to oxygen. The anti-oxidants, aloe vera, chamomile, mineral pigments, even the SPF20 remain unchanged throughout the life of the product. This gives ERA® an unlimited shelf life with no expiry date. Whether you use make-up every day, or only occasionally, your ERA® make-up remains perfect from the very first time you use it, until finished.

Contamination
Make-up is often blamed for causing breakouts - but more often than not, breakouts are caused through using brushes and sponges constantly, without proper cleaning, causing infection and cross-contamination,  products which contain oil, and over-stimulation of the skin. Misting ERA® avoids this as it is a non-contaminated, sterile application, which is why cosmetic surgeons recommend it for use post-IPL and microdermabrasion, and of course it is oil-free (non-comedogenic), so does not block pores, and avoids stimulation of the skin caused by rubbing, pulling and stretching.
